NEARLY NINE TEA

Par un clin d’oeil à une pièce de Merce Cunningham (Nearly Ninety "Presque 90"), le chorégraphe élabore pour Les Hivernales, un stratagème pour partager des émotions originelles de spectateur, celles d'avoir invité les danseurs-euses de la Cie M. Cunningham à prendre un thé, dans un appartement chic qu'on le lui avait prêté. À l'insu du public, il organise chaque soir du festival, dans l'hôtel de La Mirande, à Avignon, une performance pendant laquelle les corps du Ballet de l'Opéra remplacent les serveurs-euses de l'hôtel et exécutent une partition conceptuelle et collective, liée à leur métier et à celui du service de restauration.

With a nod to a play by Merce Cunningham (Nearly Ninety "Almost 90"), Robin Decourcy develops for Les Hivernales, a ploy to share the spectator's original emotions, those of having invited the dancers of the Cie of Merce Cunningham having tea, in a chic apartment that had been loaned to him.
